Lynne Thaxter Brown

Lynne Thaxter Brown has been practicing civil litigation since her admission to the Bar in 1982. Before returning to her hometown of Fresno in 1997, Lynne practiced in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has handled a wide variety of litigated matters during her career, including general negligence, civil rights, employment, probate, public entity liability, and professional negligence. Lynne is experienced in all aspects of civil litigation, in both state and federal courts, but in more recent years has focused exclusively on civil writs and appeals, and complex law and motion matters, including dispositive motions, and trial and post-trial motions.

Lynne has been certified by the California Board of Legal Specialization as an Appellate Law Specialist since 2009. She has an AV© Preeminent rating – the highest rating available from Martindale­Hubbell, the leading independent attorney rating entity, signifying the highest level of professional and ethical standards.

Lynne graduated magna cum laud from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1978, with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She earned a Juris Doctorate (cum laud) from the University of Santa Clara in 1982. While in law school, Lynne was a Comments Editor on the Santa Clara Law Review.

In 2008, Lynne was named the Central California Legal Services and Fresno County Bar Association’s Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year for her pro bono work representing indigents in adoption and guardianship proceedings.
